Female actors were quite successful this year. Though they don’t amass the cash like the men, women were a force at the box office in 2011. Here are the Top 10 female actor moneymakers.
1. Angelina Jolie – $30 million
Kung-Fu Panda was a voice-over gig for Jolie, however that animation flick fattened her pocket book. Jolie dubbed as a female action hero star.
2. Sarah Jessica Parker – $30 million
I Don’t Know How She Does It and New Year’s Eve were two movies Jessica starred in last year. However, she has more than one pot in the fire. She designed clothes with Halston. Parker also has a line of best-selling fragrances which brought in $18 million. Jessica’s upcoming feature is a voice-over gig for the movie Escape from Planet Earth.
3. Jennifer Aniston – $28 million
Just Go With It and Horrible Bosses were Jen’s movie releases last year. Look for Jennifer to star in Wunderlust released later this year.
4. Reese Witherspoon – $28 million
Water for Elephants may not have been a big blockbuster hit, but Reese demands a high salary. Witherspoon will star in This Means War about a love triangle between two C.I.A. agents released later this year.
5. Julia Roberts – $20 million
Larry Crowne and voice-over gig for Love,Wedding, Marriage were Julia’s two movies of 2011. That coupled with residuals from previous movies and sponsorship as a face for Lancôme brought in the big bucks. Back in the 90s Julia commanded $20 million per flick.
6. Kristen Stewart – $20 million
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I was one of the most anticipated movies of 2011. While Kristen’s non-vampire movies don’t make a dent in the box office, her Twilight franchise exploded with ticket sales. Look for her this year in Snow White and the Huntsman.
7. Katherine Heigl – $19 million
New Year’s Eve was the only movie for Katherine released in 2011. However she's one of the few actors who command a $12 million per film paycheck. Heigl set to star in the January movie release One for the Money. Katherine’s currently the most successful crossover television-to-movie actor.
8. Cameron Diaz - $18 million
Green Hornet and Bad Teacher were Cameron’s flicks in 2011. Both grossed over $100 million. That makes Cameron a very bankable actor. She’ll star in What to Expect when You’re Expecting and Gambit released later this year.
9. Sandra Bullock - $15 million
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close whispers Oscar buzz for Sandra. She’ll star in Gravity later this year.
10. Meryl Streep – $10 million
The Iron Lady won Meryl “Best Actress” from the New York Film Critics Circle Award. Could this be her 17th Oscar nomination? Streep to star in Great Hope Springs released later this year.
