List of the top earning actors fluctuates year by year. One year an actor may have a big blockbuster hit in his pocket. The following year he could bomb in a very poorly written, poorly directed, and overproduced movie. Here are Top 10 movie actor moneymakers.

1. Leonardo Dicaprio – $77 million
Shutter Island, Inception, and J. Edgar skyrocketed Leo to the top. He made his money not only acting but also through his production company Appian Way Productions. DiCaprio will star in a new rendition of The Great Gatsby this year.

 2. Johnny Depp – $50 million
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Rango both blockbuster hits for Depp. Hollywood’s chameleon actor will a film version of the cult television show Dark Shadows directed by Tim Burton this year.

3. Adam Sandler – $40 million
Just Go With It didn’t get high marks from the critics. The ticket-buying public didn’t pay mind. Movie grossed $214 worldwide. Sandler producer for the movie Donny’s Boy released this year.

4. Will Smith – $36 million
The Karate Kid starred Jaden his son was a movie Will produced. Smith is also in process of developing a remake of Annie for his daughter Willow. Smith will star in Men in Black III slated for May release.

5. Tom Hanks – $35 million
Larry Crowne earned less that $100 million, however Toy Story third installment was the highest-grossing animated movie of all time. Voice-over acting catapulted Hanks on this list. Tom’s currently starring opposite Sandra Bullock in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

6. Ben Stiller – $34 million
Meet the Parents and Night at the Museum made bank. Stiller’s new films Tower Heist, Madagascar 3, and Neighborhood Watch bound to keep him in the money.

7. Robert Downey Jr. – $31 million
Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes are two franchises that keep on giving. Downey set to reprise his role as Iron Man in the most anticipated movie of the year, The Avengers.

8. Mark Wahlberg – $28 million
Entourage, How to Make it in America and Boardwalk Empire television series all produced by Mark raked in a ton of dough. This year Mark will star in Contraband.

9. Tim Allen – $22 million
Toy Story 3 voice-over bit as Buzz Lightyear made the big bucks for Tim. Allen stars in television series Last Man Standing. Allen also has a new show, The Last Days of Man in development.

10. Tom Cruise – $22 million
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol barely put Tom in front of Bond actor Daniel Craig. Look for him in his new movie Rock of Ages as a summer movie release.
