Storyline: Based on the true story. When an Alaskan news reporter discovers a family of gray whales trapped in the Arctic Circle, he recruits his ex-girlfriend a Greenpeace volunteer to coordinate with a coalition of Inuit natives, oil companies, Russian and American military (during the Cold War) to help free the endangered whales.

Verdict: The whales so appealing and the fight to free them from their ice prison so excitingly feel-good, that all cynicism is put aside making this a decent family entertainment. Do note that in true life films there may also be tragedy. Might not be suitable for very young children.
